Hi, I’m Batel Talkar, and I’m so grateful to be part of the Tamim Academy of York Region team as support staff and the Grade 3 assistant teacher.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Seneca College, but my greatest growth came through becoming a Baal Teshuva. That journey helped me understand both the beauty of Torah values and the realities of modern life — allowing me to connect with children in a way that bridges the two worlds. I believe that balance helps students develop a strong sense of identity, confidence, and curiosity in their learning and Yiddishkeit.

As a mother of two young children, I’ve learned patience, empathy, and the importance of meeting each child where they are. I bring those same qualities into the classroom every day, creating a warm and nurturing environment where every student feels seen, valued, and inspired to grow — both academically and spiritually.
